Modified Jury Trial Set for Monday in Tom Green County

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Covid-19 pandemic may be easing with mask and social distancing restrictions lifting but modifications have been made for the first jury trial to be held in Tom Green County since the pandemic gets underway Monday.  

According to court documents, 34-year-old Mack Porter, Jr. is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by exposure.  

Porter is accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl in May of 2019. The victim is expected to testify according to the District Attorney's office.  

Jury selection is set for 9 a.m. in the Sugg Community Meeting room on the third floor of the Stephens Central Library downtown.  

Once the jury is selected, the trial will be held in courtroom A on the second floor of the Tom Green County Courthouse.  Courtroom A has also been modified for social distancing for the jury, the attorneys and the witnesses.  

Porter is facing five to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
