San Angelo Woman Indicted for Stealing Diamond Ring

 

SAN ANGELO,TX- Anastasia Nicole Escamilla has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in April for Theft of Property >=$2,500<30K.

On August 31, 2020, the owner of a yellow 14K ring with diamonds reported to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office that the jewelry had been stolen.

The victim had hired a person to clean her residence on August 20, 2020. On the 23rd of August, the victim found that she had a wedding ring stolen.

Upon questioning the cleaner, she stated that Escamilla had helped her clean on the 20th. It was then the victim had been informed a man had sold the ring at the Action Pawn shop located at 2113 North Bryant Boulevard and gave the money to Escamilla.

On September 3rd, 2020, law enforcement completed a Leads Online search and found the man mentioned had sold a ring matching the description given by the victim.

Surveillance footage showed a tan SUV entered the parking lot. Video also showed Escamilla and the man exited the vehicle and Escamilla handing the ring to him.

Both the man and Escamilla entered Action Pawn pawn shop and the man sold the ring.

Then on September 8th, 2020, the victim gave a hand drawn picture of the ring and the image was very similar to the ring sold at the pawn shop. Law enforcement took photos of the ring to the victim and it was verified to be the same ring that was stolen from her residence.

On September 10th, 2020, Escamilla admitted to the cleaner that she stole the ring and had a friend sell it. Her reason for stealing the ring was that she owed people money.

The next day, September 11th, the man also admitted to selling the ring for Escamilla because she did not have identification on her. He also said he did not know the ring was stolen.

Anastasia Nicole Escamilla was arrested on September 17th, 2020.  Escamilla posted a $10,000.00 bond on the 18th of September.
