DPS Trooper Shot Taking Mass Shooting Suspect into Custody

BRYAN, TX — A Department of Public Safety Trooper was shot Thursday while attempting to capture the man accused of shooting multiple people at a cabinet shop in Bryan, TX.

As previously reported, on Apr. 8, officers with the Bryan Police Department were dispatched to the Kent Moore Cabinets for the report of an active shooter. For the original story see: Several Wounded in Mass Shooting Event in Texas.

Following the shooting the suspect fled the scene and headed towards Iola.

Reporters from KBTX claim that a DPS trooper attempted to stop the suspect and was shot during the engagement. Multiple bullet holes in the Troopers Tahoe were captured in a photo from the scene.

Chief of Police for the Bryan Police Department Eric Buske says they believe they have the suspect now in custody.

Although the suspect hasn’t been named, Buske says law enforcement believes the suspect worked at the cabinet company.

During the shooting 4 people were injured, one person was taken to the hospital with an asthma attack and one person was killed.

This is a developing story.
