Trial of Former Abilene Youth Pastor Set to Begin Next Month

 

ABILENE, TX -- Nearly a year after former youth pastor Jeffrey Forrest was arrested in Zapopan, Mexico, his trial is set to begin next month. Forrest has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, bail jumping, and failure to appear.

Forrest jumped bail in August of 2016 and remained on the run until he was recognized by a fan of  “In Pursuit with John Walsh." Forrest was featured on a January 2020 episode of the show titled American Nightmare.

According to court documents, jury selection is expected to begin on Monday, April 12th.

Sources told local media at least 30 witnesses have been subpoenaed ahead of trial proceedings.

Forrest has remained in jail after his bond was set at $3 million.
