Angelo State Pitcher Arrested for Accident Involving Death

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – An Angelo State University baseball player has been arrested Thursday for an accident involving death.

According to booking report from the Tom Green County Detention Facility, on Mar. 18 at 12:45 p.m., Benjamin Elder, 24, was arrested for an accident involving death.

Elder is an Angelo State University baseball player and is a pitcher for the team. He was named pitcher of the week for the Lone Star Conference on Mar. 2. 

Angelo State University released the following statement regarding Elder's arrest. 

"While we are aware of Mr. Elder’s arrest, we have no further information," stated Director of the Office of Communications and Marketing Rebekah Brackin. We would not be able to discuss a pending investigation or comment on Elder’s role with the baseball team."

This morning two people were killed in a fatal hit and run just one mile east of the Angelo State Campus. 

At this time it is unclear if the crash and the arrest are related. San Angelo LIVE! has reached out to the San Angelo Police Department for an update.

He didnt cause the accident. And why were four kids out at 6 a m on spring break and running from police? That is question that should be asked!

I don’t understand why he wouldn’t stop. He supposedly wasn’t at fault.
