Woman Arrested for Shooting 19-Year-Old

 

ABILENE, TX – A 19-year-old woman was arrested Thursday after a shooting occurred earlier this week in Abilene. 

According to the Abilene Police Department, on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m. dispatch received multiple calls of gunshots at an apartment complex located in the 3500 Block of Curry Lane in South Abilene. Officers arrived to find a 19-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was eventually transported to the hospital by ambulance. He’s currently recovering from his injuries.

A preliminary investigation reveals that the victim was outside of the apartment complex when a dark-colored four door vehicle approached, and someone inside fired several rounds in his direction. He was struck multiple times and the vehicle fled the scene.

Detectives identified at least two possible suspects and the vehicle involved in this incident. APD SWAT and CID investigators executed a search warrant at a home located in Big Spring, TX on Thursday, March 11. One individual, 19-year-old Arianna Ornelas was arrested without incident on an Aggravated Assault warrant. She has been brought back to Abilene and is currently being held at the Taylor County Jail and charged with Second Degree Felony Aggravated Assault.

This investigation continues into the motive and relationship of the individuals involved. Other arrests are expected in this case.
