Driver Jailed After Police Find Hidden Meth and Coke Stash

TYE, TX – A 28-year-old El Paso man is facing serious charges after officers located a substantial amount of drugs hidden inside the seat cushions in his vehicle.

According to law enforcement, Javier Alejandro Luna was pulled over on Saturday for a traffic violation.

While speaking with Luna, the "officer noticed some inconsistencies in his story."

According to Tye Police Chief Jay Strong, the suspect gave the officer permission to search the vehicle.

During the search, law enforcement located 2.95 lbs of cocaine and 8.75 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in the seat cushions.

"The driver was arrested and charged with two counts of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance," said Chief Strong.

After Luna was detained, he attempted to escape and damaged the police vehicle.

In addition to the drug charges, Chief Strong confirmed Luna had multiple warrants throughout the U.S.

"We are working to keep drugs out of our City, one stop at a time," said Chief Strong.
