Border Patrol Agents Arrest MS-13 Gang Member and Illegal Pervs

EDINBURG, TX – Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents arrest three sex offenders and a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member over the weekend.

On Friday, Falfurrias Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien near Falfurrias, Texas.  Criminal record checks revealed the subject, identified as Amner Rodolfo Lopez, was arrested for a sexual offense by the Houston Police Department. Lopez was subsequently convicted for sexual assault of a minor and indecency exposure. Lopez served eight months confinement in 2017 before being deported from the United States.

On Sunday, Mauricio Navarrete-Navarrete was apprehended at the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint as part of an unsuccessful human smuggling attempt. During processing, record checks on Navarrete revealed a prior arrest for rape and unlawful imprisonment by the Yakima Police Department in Yakima County, Washington. Navarrete was ultimately convicted on a lesser charge of sexual assault and voyeurism and sentenced to three months confinement and twelve months community service.

Later in the day, McAllen Border Patrol agents apprehended four subjects who illegally entered the United States near Hidalgo, Texas. Record checks revealed that one of the subjects was previously identified as a confirmed MS-13 Gang member. In addition to being a known MS-13 Gang member, the subject has an extensive criminal record in the United States spanning nearly 17 years.

Shortly after, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents initiated a vehicle stop near San Manuel, Texas, resulting in a failed human smuggling attempt. Agents arrested five illegal aliens and transported them to a Border Patrol station for processing. During processing, it was determined that one of the subjects, identified as Oslivero Lopez-Ordonez, is a registered sexual offender stemming from the sexual assault of a child. Lopez was arrested by the Houston Police Department in 2014 and sentenced to two years confinement.

Border Patrol processed all subjects accordingly.
