Local Bonnie and Clyde Go On Crime Spree In Stolen Car

 

ABILENE, TX -- An Abilene duo was arrested after going on a crime spree early Saturday afternoon.

According to the Abilene Police Department, 28-year-old Timothy Lanham Lutz and 31-year-old Leigha Juanay Marderosian robbed Plato's Closet, a used clothing store, before 2:00 p.m.

Witnesses who were in the parking lot saw Lutz stealing items from the store. 

When Lutz was confronted by an employee he pointed a shotgun at them.

Lutz and Marderosian left the scene in a tan 2009 Nissan Altima. The witnesses followed Altima and called 9-1-1.

According to police, Marderosian was in the driver's seat and "intentionally drove aggressively at the witness' vehicle."

Lutz then leaned over her and fired the shotgun at the witness's vehicle, striking it.

When police were able to locate the Altima, Marderosian led them on "a dangerous chase."

The chase involved the participation of Taylor County deputies and DPS Troopers.

Marderosian eventually crashed the car on CR 632 in Buffalo Gap. The duo then exited the car and fled the scene.

They were eventually were arrested with the help of a K-9 Unit.

The subsequent investigation revealed the Altima was stolen on Wednesday from a trailer park next to Abilene Country Club.

During the chase, a witness saw the shotgun thrown from the vehicle. Police were able to recover the weapon.

Police also confirmed that while Lutz was being questioned by police he caused $1,000 in damages to the interview room.

Lutz was charged with the following charges:

  • aggravated robbery
  • aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
  • unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon
  • criminal mischief
  • theft of property
  • evading arrest

His bond was set at $200,000.

Marderosian was charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and evading arrest. Her bond was set at $150,000.
