EDINBURG, TX – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens with prior convictions for sexual offenses.
Wednesday afternoon, agents working in the vast ranch lands of Falfurrias, Texas, apprehended a subject who admitted to being illegally present in the United States. During processing, records checks revealed that Lucas MORALES-Perez, a Guatemalan national, was arrested by the Woodburn Police Department in 2017 for sexual assault.
In 2018, the Marion County Circuit Court convicted MORALES-Perez of three counts of 3rd Degree Rape and sentenced him to 120 days in confinement and 60 months of probation.
Thursday morning, McAllen agents working in Mission, Texas, encountered a citizen of El Salvador found to be illegally present in the United States. Records checks revealed that the 40 year old man, later identified as Mario Salvador MENDOZA-Rodriguez, was convicted of Lewd or Lascivious Act with a Child under 14 Years of Age back in 2013. MENDOZA-Rodriguez was sentenced to 72 months imprisonment.
Border Patrol later processed both subjects accordingly.
The public is encouraged by U.S Customs and Border Protection to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at (800)-863-9382.
Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger, nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.
The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
