Illegal Alien Convicted in San Angelo Crime Against a Child Caught at the Border

 

DEL RIO, TX – U.S Customs and Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Del Rio Station arrested a previously convicted sex offender on Tuesday.

“Dangerous criminals continue their attempts to illegally enter the United States,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II on Thursday. “I am proud of our agents who are the front line of defense against these violent felons and work tirelessly to see them prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Agents arrested Guillermo Ramirez-Ponce, 51, who is a current citizen of Mexico, shortly after he illegally entered the United States on the afternoon of Nov. 3, 2020.

During his processing, a records checks revealed that Ramirez-Ponce was previously convicted on two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child stemming from an incident in San Angelo back in 2002, where he was sentenced to 30 years in confinement. 

According to U.S Customs and Border Patrol records Ramirez-Ponce was subsequently removed from the United States in 2017.

As a convicted felon, Ramirez-Ponce currently faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326, or Re-entry After Deportation, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 20 years incarceration.
