SAN ANGELO, TX – Jon Marc Guerra was indicted by a Tom Green County Grand Jury in September for the charge of robbery, which is a second degree felony in the state of Texas that carries a penalty of two to twenty years in a state prison and, or a fine of no more than $10,000
As previously reported, officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to the Stripes store located at 1606 La Follette Street for the report of a robbery in progress.
When responding units first arrived on scene, they learned from a store employee who was working the night shift that a female customer entered the store, picked up a box of beer and exited the business without paying.
A shopper who was in the store at the time of the beer theft told investigators that he was in the store shopping when he saw the female subject exit the business with a box of beer without paying for it.
According to the shopper, he then witnessed the female subject hand the beer off to a male subject, later identified as Jon Marc Guerra, in the parking lot as he attempted to apprehend the female suspect.
The report states that when the shopper attempted to apprehend the female, the defendant and another male suspect jumped out of a white passenger car and began assaulting him before the two took off on foot running towards the back of the business.
The shopper, who only sustained minor injuries during the assault, was eventually able to detain Guerra after a short pursuit and return him to the store until the police arrived.
According to the report, the 16-year-old female suspect returned to the store on her own accord; however, the second male suspect who fled the scene has not been identified at this time.
Both Guerra and the juvenile female suspect were charged with robbery. Guerra was immediately transported to the Tom Green County Jail where his bond was set at $35K.
The juvenile female suspect was transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center.
