Carlsbad Man Arrested for Continuous Indecency with a Minor

 

SAN ANGELO, TX –  A 67-year-old Carlsbad man has been arrested after he gave a "voluntary confession" to authorities claiming that he had been sexually indecent with a child on multiple occasions, according to an arrest affidavit San Angelo LIVE! obtained on Tuesday.

The affadavit states that on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, the suspect, later identified as Joe Grooms, contacted Tom Green County deputies and made a "voluntary confession" , where he admitted to making sexual contact with a minor who was younger than 17 years of age after being confronted by a witness, according to the affidavit. 

In his confession Grooms informed TGCSO deputies the sexual contact occurred "on multiple occasions over the past 4-5 years" in his Carlsbad residence and at a separate residence in Oklahoma.

According to the court documents the victim made an outcry to a witness on Saturday, Sept. 5, who immediately confronted Grooms forcing him to contact the authorities the next day.

On Sunday, Joe Landrom Grooms, 67, of Carlsbad, Tx was arrested on the suspicion of indecency with a child by sexual contact and was booked into the Tom Green County Jail where he faces $35,000.00 in bond.
