Border Patrol Agents Seize $9 Million Worth of Meth

LAREDO, TX—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers at the World Trade Bridge and Juarez-Lincoln Bridge seized methamphetamine worth an estimated $9 million in two separate enforcement actions.

“Methamphetamine has an appalling impact on individuals, families and our communities,” said Acting Port Director Andrew Douglas, Laredo Port of Entry. “CBP is dedicated to disrupting the flow of this deadly narcotic through ongoing enforcement operations.”

The first enforcement action occurred on Monday, August 10th when CBP officers assigned to the World Trade Bridge intercepted a tractor manifesting acrylic polymers. The 2009 Kenworth tractor and shipment were referred for a canine and non-intrusive imaging system inspection, resulting in the discovery of 10 packages containing 474.17 pounds of alleged methamphetamine discovered within the consignment. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $9,483,307.

Later that evening, officers at the Juarez- Lincoln Bridge encountered a 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 making entry from Mexico and referred the vehicle for a secondary inspection. Following a canine and non-intrusive imaging system inspection, CBP officers discovered a total of nine packages containing 15.74 pounds of alleged methamphetamine within the subject’s belongings. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $314,816.

The narcotics combined have an estimated street value of $9,798,123.

 CBP officers seized the narcotics and one vehicle.  The cases were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
