MERKEL, TX — The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Merkel man facing a charge of sexual assault of a minor.
According to KTXS, 39-year-old Derek Alan Holdridge was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child.
According to police, the victim, a 14-year-old girl, told them Holdridge gave her alcohol while they watched pornography, and then he sexually assaulted her.
According to the victim, the abuse began in July of 2018 and continued daily for almost two months.
She told investigators that after the first assault “they would do something sexual almost every day” and that “she felt they were in a relationship.”
Holdridge has been charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child. He's being held on a $30,000 bond.
