PEARLAND, TX – Police are currently searching for suspects who have allegedly been killing people's horses to eat them.
According to the Pearland Police Department, on June 10, 2020 Pearland Officers and Pearland Animal Services responded to the 14000 block of Kirby Drive regarding animal cruelty. Officers arrived on scene and found a horse had been killed and butchered. Investigators learned that the horse had suffered what appeared to be a fatal stab wound to the chest and then was butchered after succumbing to its injuries. The suspects then removed the animal’s backstraps and the front and hind quarters leading investigators to believe the animal was killed for its meat.
On August 8, 2020, Pearland Officers were dispatched to the 14000 block of Hooper Road regarding another case where an additional two horses were killed and butchered. The horse owner contacted the Pearland Police Department after arriving to her property and learning two horses were missing and a portion of the property fence had been cut. The two horses were discovered dead and butchered about half a mile away on adjacent land. The two horses were found with their backstraps and hindquarters removed.
The Pearland Police Department is aware that two additional horses were slaughtered outside of Pearland in neighboring law enforcement jurisdictions. One horse was killed on May 22, 2020, and the other was June 29, 2020. Both horses were killed in proximity of the city limits of Pearland along the Sam Houston Toll Road (Beltway 8).
