Murder Suspect Arrested After Choking Wife and Fatally Shooting Another Victim

 

ODESSA, TX — A 47-year-old Odessa man has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting that occurred on Tuesday night.

According to CBS7, officers with the Odessa Police Department responded to a call on the 2800 block of Madera Dr. shortly after 8:24 p.m.

At the scene, officers discovered that the suspect had allegedly chocked his wife before hitting her in the face and neck.

The suspect identified as Marcus Dwain McDavid then allegedly grabbed a handgun and threatened to shoot his entire family before fleeing the home.

Less than thirty minutes later officers responded to the 900 block of Snyder for reports of a gunshot victim. At the scene officers located a 32-year-old victim that had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was transported to the hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The subsequent investigation identified McDavid as the primary suspect.

McDavid was arrested after he was located inside a backyard near the scene of the shooting.

He has been charged with Murder, a first-degree felony, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a third-degree felony, and Assault Family Violence with a Previous Conviction, a third-degree felony.
