SAN ANGELO, TX – A Tom Green County grand jury indicted Andrew Thomas Edwards on multiple felony charges including Sexual Performance by Child Less Than 14 Years of Age Produce/Dir/Promo - Second Degree Felony, and Injury Child/Elderly/Disable With Intent to Cause Bodily Injury - Third Degree Felony after a juvenile victim made an outcry stating Edwards had previously bitten her and photographed her using his cell phone while she was undressed in the bathroom.
Court documents indicate that on the afternoon of January 26, 2020, Edwards intentionally and knowingly produced a photograph which included sexual conduct, namely lewd exhibition of the minors private areas knowing the victim was a child younger than 14 years of age.
A forensic interview was conducted with the underage victim where authorities learned Edwards had used his cellphone to take several photos of the juvenile who was nude in the bathroom at the time.
A search warrant was obtained for Edward's cellphone where investigators examined the contents of the defendant's cellphone download and observed an image of the underage victim fully exposed.
On May 12, 2020, Edwards was arrested by officers with the San Angelo Police Department at approximately 4:11 p.m. where he was initially held without bond.
The following afternoon Edwards was released from the Tom Green County Jail after posting $30,000.00 bond.
Edwards was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury July 8 on multiple charges including Sexual Performance by Child Less Than 14 Years of Age Produce/Dir/Promo, and Injury Child/Elderly/Disable With Intent to Cause Bodily Injury.
At this time Edwards is currently sitting in the Tom Green County Detention Center in lieu of $75,000 in bond awaiting an initial pretrial hearing scheduled for September 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
