Border Patrol Finds 12 Pounds of Meth Abandoned at BorderPress Release
DEL RIO, TX – U.S. Border Patrol agents seized over 12 pounds of methamphetamine abandoned in a backpack on June 29.
Agents assigned to the Del Rio Station were responding to activity when they discovered an abandoned backpack with more than $800,000 worth of methamphetamine inside. The narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
“Smugglers who try to bring in dangerous narcotics for their personal profit are cowards and often abandon their drugs at the sight of Border Patrol agents,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Doyle E. Amidon, Jr. “Thanks to the determination and vigilance of our agents, 12 pounds of this poison is now off the streets. The protection of our neighborhoods and nation is our top priority.”
