San Angelo Man Indicted on Indecency and Drug Possession Charges
SAN ANGELO, TX – Tom Green County Grand Jurors indicted 44 year old Salvador V. Caballero on two felony charges including Indecency with a Child - Exposes and the Possession of a Controlled Substance following an arrest that was made back in February.
Court documents indicate the defendant knowingly exposed himself to a juvenile female who was under the age of 17 at the time with the intent to arouse or satisfy a sexual desire sometime on the afternoon of February 18, 2020.
Three days later on February 21, an officer with the San Angelo Police Department arrested Caballero at an abandoned residence off of Ben Ficklin Rd.
Following his apprehension Caballero requested an officer to grab a few of his personal belongings from inside the residence where the officer located a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine along with Caballero's cell phone and wallet.
A field test was issued on the substance which later tested positive for less than one gram of methamphetamine at the scene.
As of May 12, 2020, Salvador V. Caballero has been indicted on two separate charges including:
- Indecency W/a Child Exposes - 3rd Degree Felony
- Poss CS PG 1 < 1G - State Jail Felony (Enhanced)
Due to Caballero's past as a registered felon the possession of a controlled substance charge from the February 21 arrest is enhanced from a State Jail Felony up to a Third Degree Felony.
Salvador Caballero is currently sitting in the Tom Green County Jail in lieu of a $55,000.00 bond currently awaiting an Initial Pre-Trial Hearing date to bet set.
Penalties associated with Caballero's indictment include:
- Indecency W/a Child Exposes - 3rd Degree Felony : Carries a penalty of 2 years to 10 years incarceration with fines up to $10,000. Probation for a 3rd Degree Felony usually ranges from 2 to 10 years.
- Poss CS PG 1 < 1G - State Jail Felony - Enhanced to 3rd Degree Felony : Carries a penalty of 2 years to 10 years incarceration with fines up to $10,000.
