Sexagenarian Accused of Committing Lewd Acts With 9-Year-Old Boy

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department has arrested 66-year-old Richard Esquivel after he was accused of committing a sex crime against a 9-year-old boy.

According to KTXS, a pre-indictment warrant alleges Esquivel placed his hand down the boy's basketball shorts. The alleged incident happened in July of 2018.

Esquivel has denied touching the victim and told police he reached over the boy to grab the TV remote. He alleges the boy though he was trying something inappropriate.

Esquivel also told police that he and the boy wrestle and "they touch and play around."

The suspect also admitted to police he “playfully grabs the victim's shorts and pulls them off, exposing his genitals.”

Esquivel is charged with indecency with a child.
