Winters Man Kills Girlfriend and Attempts Suicide

WINTERS, TX – A Winters man was arrested Wednesday after he barricaded himself into his home after allegedly killing his girlfriend. 

According to KTXS, on Mar. 11, officers with the Winters Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of E. Broadway to conduct a welfare check. 

As the officers arrived they were alerted that a man had barricaded himself inside of the home. Dispatch warned officers that the man was armed with a weapon. 

While barricaded in the home police learned that the man had killed his girlfriend. After a brief standoff the man came out of the home without incident thanks to the help of family. 

The body of the woman was found inside the residence and has been sent in for an autopsy. 

WPD said during the incident the man ingested antifreeze and was be hospitalized.
