Texas Rangers Investigating Officer Involved Shooting

 

ODESSA, TX – The Texas Rangers have been called into Odessa to investigate an officer involved shooting that occurred early Sunday morning. 

According to Newswest 9, on February 22, officers with the Midland Police Department were patrolling near the Black Gold Sports Bar and witnessed a fight outside of the bar. 

As they attempted to break up the fight one of the men took off running in the parking lot. The officers told him to stop but the man hopped in a Dodge Challenger or Charger and attempted to run down the officer. 

The Odessa Police Department says that the officer fired several shots at the car. 

The driver of the Dodge fled the scene. He is described as a 6'2" black man who weighs about 220 lbs. 

The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate the shooting. The officer has been placed on restricted duty.
