SAPD Looking for Victims and Witnesses of Park Perv Indecent Exposure

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Police Department is seeking assistance in locating victims and witnesses of an indecent exposure incident that occurred Thursday in Santa Fe Park.

San Angelo Live exclusively published a video that shows a concerned citizen attempting to stop the suspect from exposing himself in an area that is commonly filled with children. The video is available at this link: GRAPHIC VIDEO: Man Confronts Suspected Perv Partially Clothed at Local Park (Video may contain images that are not suitable for all audiences.)

The SAPD statement indicated officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Veterans Memorial Drive for the report of indecent exposure at approximately 1:45 p.m. Officers had reports that indicated an Hispanic male was sitting outside the restroom facilities with his pants down. When the officers arrived on the scene, they were not able to locate the subject and the complainant declined to meet with officers to provide additional information.

Later that afternoon, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers were once again dispatched to the same location for a report of an unknown problem. While on scene, officers located the suspect involved in the indecent exposure incident and detained him. In the course of their investigation officers reviewed the video of the previously reported incident and were unable to locate additional victims and witnesses.

Based on the video that was provided to the investigating officers, the suspect was issued a Citation for Class C Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct Indecent Exposure, which Texas Penal Code Chapter 42.01 (10) defines as; exposes his anus or genitals in a public place and is reckless about whether another may be present who will be offended or alarmed by his act.

SAPD’s Criminal Investigations Division is currently following multiple leads and asks for the public’s help in providing any additional information that can assist with the ongoing investigation. If SAPD uncovers additional information through investigation or public assistance, the offender will be charged accordingly.

The police department is asking any other victims or witnesses who were in the area and observed the incident or similar incidents to please contact dispatch at (325) 657-4315, as they take incidents of this nature very seriously.

In their statement SAPD stated the following:

"We are grateful for the individuals who have already come forward to assist with this investigation and we will continue to provide the appropriate resources to investigate these incidents. Since this incident, Patrol Commanders have and will continue to provide saturated patrols in and around the City’s recreational areas."
