Carlsbad Murder Suspect Apprehended in Erath County

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The suspects wanted in the Carlsbad murder Saturday morning were apprehended by law enforcement officers in Erath County Saturday. 

According to information from the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, "Today, Saturday, February 15, 2020, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call from 11000 block of Marshall St. in Carlsbad. Upon arrival deputies found a white male in his mid-20's deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Justin Ray Ramirez was identified as a person of interest in the investigation and later was developed as a suspect. An arrest warrant, charging Ramirez for murder, was obtained.

As we initially reported, there was a major law enforcement presence in Carlsbad. 

Information developed during the investigation indicated Ramirez had fled the area.

At approximately 4:00 p.m, Ramirez was observed driving a white, 2012 Chevy Malibu, traveling through Erath County. Officers stopped the vehicle and Ramirez was arrested on the outstanding murder warrant. A second individual, who is also a person of interest in the investigation, was also taken into custody on other charges.

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, The Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, Texas Parks and Wildlife, San Angelo Police Department and other area law enforcement agencies are assisting in the investigation.

There is no further threat to public safety at this time as a result of criminal event.
