Soldier from Texas Killed in Nangarhar Province Attack

 

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The DOD has identified the two soldiers who died in the Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan after an attack. One of the soldiers was from Texas.

According to KTXS, Sgt. 1st Class Javier Jaguar Gutierrez and Sgt. 1st Class Antonio Rey Rodriguez were killed "while engaged in combat operations." Six other soldiers were wounded in the attack according to the U.S. Military.

Gutierrez was from San Antonio and Rodriguez was from Las Cruces, NM.

The airmen, who were both 28-years-old, were assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The attack remains under investigation.
