SAN ANGELO, TX – Two years after the brutal murder of 24-year-old Andrew Martinez, the second suspect involved in the murder pleaded guilty. Antonio Noe Flores III pleaded guilty in exchange for a sentence of 25 years.
If Flores had opted for a jury trial, he faced the possibility of being sentenced to a maximum of 99 years or life in prison. According to police, Flores and his co-conspirator Jeremy Perez, in the company of a juvenile, located Martinez and Perez shot him multiple times. According to police Martinez was outside the residence smoking and after a fight ensued, one of the men shot Martinez at point-blank range. Martinez was transported to Shannon Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
It appears the victim and the defendants were having a dispute over drugs. Perez pleaded guilty back in October of 2019 and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Flores will serve out his sentence in the institutional division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He will be required to pay restitution in the amount of $13, 213.59.
During the proceedings D.A. Allison Palmer indicated the state would be abandoning paragraph 2 of the indictment. The finding of a deadly weapon was added due to the nature of the offense.
Flores will remain in custody of the Tom Green Sheriff’s Office until he is transported to prison.
(Editor's Note: A previous version incorrectly identified the victim as James Hernandez by mistake.)
