WATCH: Police Close Neighborhood After Unidentified Man Flees Officers on a Bicycle

SAN ANGELO. TX -- Officers with the San Angelo Police Department blocked off several blocks on the north side of San Angelo Wednesday evening after a man refused to stop his bike when a police officer attempted to pull him over.

According to Sgt. Cannady with the San Angelo Police Department, on January 29, officers with the San Angelo Police Department attempted to pull over a man who was riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the street.

When the officers attempted the stop, the man decided not to comply and instead he rode off on his bicycle. Here is a video of the scene:

Officers chased the man but lost sight of him for a short while. Police then secured a perimeter around 10th and Chadbourne Streets all the way to 12th and Oakes Street.

After a short search, officers found the subject just south of the intersection at 12th and Volney Streets;

Police found no identifying information on him and believe the man gave a fake name at the time of the arrest. Officers also told San Angelo LIVE! that a small plastic baggie was found with a controlled substance residue inside, along with a drug pipe.

The man has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, evading arrest, and riding on the wrong side of the roadway with a bicycle.

He was taken to the Tom Green County Jail.
