ODESSA, TX – An Odessa woman is thanking God after she survived being shot in the neck. The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, detailed the assault that landed her in the hospital.
According to CBS7, the Ector County Sheriff’s department was called out to a mobile home where they found a woman who had nearly been killed. The victim had been shot in the neck and the bullet went through her neck and traveled down her back, stopping short of her spine.
The victim explained that just before the incident she argued with her boyfriend, a man she had been dating since September. She alleges he came home very upset and argumentative that night and that she had seen him angry before, but never like this.
After arguing, he told her to get in the truck with him, but when she saw a gun resting on the dash she “felt uneasy.”
“No way I was fixing to get in that truck,” she said. “All I just kept thinking about was my son, which I should have been thinking about for a long time now. I should have ended this awhile back.
She then made a comment about his temper and the suspect picked up the gun and fired. He then drove away and hasn’t reached out to her since.
“I guess my whole life flashed before my eyes,” she said. “Just saw my son and my family.”
She is expected to recover fairly soon and credits God for surviving the shooting.
“He’s always looking out,” she said. “You’re never alone when you’re with God. Never. He’s always there, even when it seems like He’s not. You don’t see his footprints cause He’s carrying you.”
The Ector County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t released any names or descriptions of suspects but are working on arresting a suspect.
