Convicted Felon Leads Police on 2 Chases in 1 Day

 

ABILENE, TX – Abilene Police were led on a chase Sunday night after a suspect allegedly threatened to get a gun and kill a woman on Thursday.

According to KTXS, Morris Rena Lopez was wanted for stalking and evading arrest. The 52-year-old suspect had already evaded police once on Sunday, but the chase as called off when he reached Jones County. 

According to police at one point the tire came right off the front tire and Lopez was driving on the rim. But this isn’t the first time that Lopez was in trouble with the law, according to online court records he has an extensive criminal history.

In 1995 he was convicted of aggravated kidnapping, sexual assault, and retaliation. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison and released in January of 2018.

This year Lopez spent Christmas in Taylor County Jail after being arrested on Dec 23 for criminal trespass. He was released on bond on December 29.

He is currently being held at the Taylor County Jail on a $100,000 bond for the stalking charge.
