LAREDO, TX – Authorities in Laredo are currently asking travelers and residents to avoid using the Border Checkpoint due to a number of intense shootings that have taken place just outside the border city.
According to KTXS, Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar says that there is currently an on-going gun fight in Nuevo Laredo between membesr of drug cartels and the Tamaulipas State Police.
"It's been said that high-caliber machine guns and explosives are being utilized," Warned Cuellar. "They are hijacking vehicles and disturbing the peace."
WCSO is warning people to avoid the area. If you are already in the area avoid Cesar Lopez De Lara Avenue, Paseo Colon, Venezuela and Guatemala streets.
