POLICE: Walmart Shopper Beaten for $5 and a Cell Phone

 

ABILENE, TX – A shopper was beaten and robbed outside of a Neighborhood Walmart on Friday. 

According to KTXS, on December 27, Officers with the Abilene Police Department were dispatched to the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Amler and Grape st. for the report of a robbery. 

When the officers arrived they found the victim of the assault and learned that the two knew each other. The police report stated that the victim and Curtis Lee Gingerich, 24, were former co-workers. 

Police gained footage of the assault in the parking lot and identified the man as Gingerich. Once the APD found Gingerich they arrested him. 

Gingerich was found in the same clothes as shown on video and had blood on his hands and one of his knuckles was busted.

The victim stated that during the assault he could hear Gingerich saying "give me that five dollars and your phone." 

Gingerich in charged with robbery and is currently in the Taylor County Jail in lieu of a $50,000.
