Border Agents Discover 27 Individuals Smuggled in Tractor-Trailer

 

LAREDO, TX – U.S Border Agents rescued 27 individuals that were being smuggled on-board a black tractor-trailer hauling a white trailer at the Interstate 35 Border Patrol Checkpoint, north of Laredo.

According to a press release, at approximately on December 11, 12:30 a.m. the tractor-trailer approached a primary inspection lane. After the driver, a U.S. Citizen, consented to a non-intrusive scan of the vehicle, agents discovered 27 individuals locked inside the trailer. The individuals had no way to escape the trailer and the temperature inside the vehicle was 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The individuals, 22 males, and 5 females were in the country illegally. They were from the countries of Guatemala, Ecuador, and Mexico.

The individuals were all determined to be in good health and taken into custody along with the driver to be processed accordingly.
