UPDATE: Stand-Off Ends with Helicopter Flight to the ER

 

KERRVILLE, TX -- The Kerrville Police Department is currently in a standoff with a murder suspect who has barricaded himself inside of a movie theater. 

According to the KPD and the Kerrville Daily Times, on November 18, at around 10:23 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Walmart for a shooting victim. When they arrived, officers found a female who was shot and killed in the parking lot. 

After further investigation the police were able to identify the shooter as Fernando Rolan Jr. 

Rolan's car was found later in the night at the Rio 10 Theater where he had barricaded himself inside. 

Police originally made contact with Rolan via phone but lost communications with him after hours. Rolan was originally willing to give himself up but police are unsure of his plans at this time since losing contact. 

KPD Special Operations Unit is still attempting to make contact in hopes to convince Rolan to surrender peacefully. 

UPDATE NOVEMBER 19. 1:19 p.m.: 

Police have now identified the woman killed as Melissa Villagrana an employee from Walmart. 

"We are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our associate," said Anne Hatfield, Walmart spokeswoman, in an email to the Kerrville Daily Times. "This is an active police investigation and we will continue to work with Kerrville Police Department and assist in their investigation in any way possible."

The Texas Department of Public Safety's SWAT team has been called in as authorities from all around hold a perimeter of the theater's parking lot. 

No gunfire has been reported at the Rio 10 yet even though rumors claim multiple shots this morning. 

UPDATE NOVEMBER 19. 3:40 p.m.: 

The 15-hour standoff has officially ended with Rolan being carried out on a stretcher and into a medical helicopter. 

No word yet on the extent of his injuries but scanner reports indicated a 45-year-old who suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

Witnesses on scene say they heard a large bang followed by the man being wheeled out on a stretcher. 

The Kerrville Police Department will be releasing an official statement shortly.
