ABILENE, TX – Abilene Police Department has made two arrests in the shooting of 19-year-old Caleb Hemwall. Caleb was shot in the neck last Friday night while in his living room; the bullet narrowly missed his spine. According to police, Caleb was inside the apartment when someone fired three shots through the front door.
According to KTXS, the first arrest was of a male juvenile and he told police he and two other males had robbed Hemwall. The second arrest was of Vanyah Yechiyah Jackson, 19; both suspects were charged with aggravated assault. During questioning the juvenile identified Jackson as being part of the trio that went to Caleb's apartment.
The arrest warrant alleges that Jackson and two other males came to Caleb’s apartment on November 8th, pulled out a gun and stole $65 and some marijuana.
Caleb is still hospitalized but told police that Jackson was the person that shot him. Hemwall's roommate identified Jackson as one of the males who came to the apartment when the robbery occurred.
Jackson's bond was set at $200,000
