Cheatham Granted Pre-Trial Diversion in Lewd Acts With Child Case

SAN ANGELO, TX – Korbin Cheatham, 18, stood before Judge Weatherby’s court Thursday morning for a pre-trial diversion. Cheatham faced charges of sexual assault of a child.

According to court documents Cheatham engaged in oral sex with a minor under the age of 17. The alleged assault occurred in September of this year and is considered a second-degree felony in Texas.

Cheatham’s pre-trial diversion was established for one year. When a person enters into a pre-trial diversion, the prosecution and defense agree to divert the trial for an established time frame and place the defendant on pre-trial probation.

Once the timeframe has passed and the defendant complies with all the conditions, the D.A.’s office will dismiss all of the charges in the case and the defendant will be free to go without having to plead guilty to any crime relating to that matter.
