Border Patrol Seized Over One Ton of Marijuana Last Week

 

BROWNSVILLE, TX – Border Patrol seized nearly 1 ton of marijuana in five separate incidents last week.

According to KTXS, last Tuesday agents observed four suspected narcotic smugglers traveling north of the river in Brownsville. The suspects abandoned the narcotics after agents attempted to arrest them and ultimately fled back to Mexico. With a combined weight of more than 96 pounds, the four bundles had an estimated street value of $77,000. 

Later in the week, Brownsville agents received information about two possible suspects who were attempting to cross the border north of the Rio Grande. The suspects were carrying two bundles that together contained more than 93 pounds. Both suspects attempted to flee from agents, but one of them was apprehended thanks to the assistance of a Border Patrol K-9.

Since last Tuesday agents have seized more than 1,700 pounds of marijuana worth more than $1.3 million in three separate incidents in the Rio Grande Valley area.
