Officer in Critical Condition after Being Shot During Traffic Stop

 

DENTON, TX -- Two men are currently in custody after they shot and critically injured a police officer during a traffic stop. 

According to KTXS, on October 28, an officer with the Denton Police Department pulled over a vehicle after he spotted a vehicle with an equipment violation. 

After pulling the vehicle over, the officer requested backup assistance. 

During the stop, two suspects in the vehicle open fire and shot the officer. The backup officer returned fire but the vehicle drove away before he could stop them. 

The two were later caught in the nearby city of Carrollton where they were taken into custody after a short pursuit. 

The unidentified officer is currently is in critical condition but is stable after undergoing surgery. 

The two suspects were also treated at the hospital with gunshot injuries.
