A Child's Outcry for Help Finally Heard After Years of Abuse

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A man was indicted in October after a child that has been abused for years is finally heard.

According to court documents, on April 9, deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office met a child after she had cried out for help due to her being sexually abused for years.

The child told deputies that the assaults began when she was only 11 years old. It started when the two were on the trampoline and were wrestling. This is when the girl first remembered Jason Murrell, 22, touching her private region above the pants.

Soon after the child says that Murrell began to touch her all over and make her feel "gross." She continued by telling deputies that he later put his hands under her pants and would "move (his finger) all around."

These actions later led to Murrell raping the child in her parent's bedroom when she was only 11-years-old.

The affidavit states that the child told her mother that she had been abused multiple times but the mother only yelled at Murrell.

Between the ages of 12 to 13, the child was assaulted between 20 and 30 times. Between the ages of 13 and 14, the child was assaulted between 15 to 20 times. Between the ages of 14 and 15, the child was assaulted between 20 to 30 times.

During a stint where Murrell lived in the same house as the child, he assaulted her between two to three times a week. The child stated that at one point she would let him assault her because he knew that he would not stop.

During the first assault the child was under 12-years-old while Murrell was between 17 and 18-years-old.

Murrell is charged with sexual assault of a child and continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. The mother has also been indicted for endangering a child for knowing her daughter was being sexually assaulted. In order to contain the identity of the victim, the mother's name will not be released.
