Man Indicted for "Jumping and Robbing" Innocent Bystander

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A man was indicted in October for knocking out someone just walking by and then stealing his wallet.

According to court documents, on August 3 the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to the baseball field at 4779 Ben Ficklin Rd for the report of a man that was "jumped and robbed."

When officers arrived they spoke with the victim of the assault and he said that he was walking when Joshua Williams, 29, struck him in the back of the head. The victim continued by telling officers that the hit knocked him out and when he woke up his wallet with $2,000 dollars in it was gone.

The officers searched the field and found Williams laying in tall grass. He was then detained and both men were taken to hospital.

While there the officer noticed that the victim had "scratches and scuffs on his body consistent with have been drug or slid across a rough surface."

Officers attempted to interview Williams but he denied and requested an attorney instead.

Williams has been indicted for Robbery and is currently in the Tom Green County Jail. His bond is set at $35,000.

His initial pretrial is set for December 3 at 2:00 p.m.
