Police Find Mother at Bar while her Blind, Autistic Child was Stuck in Feces Covered Room

ABILENE, TX -- A mother was arrested this morning after Police found her blind and autistic child home alone in a feces covered room.

According to KTXS, on October 21, the Abilene Police Department responded to the 2000 block for the report of a prowler. Officers were circling the neighborhood and heard a loud scream coming from inside of one of the homes.

The officers peaked into the window and spotted a small child that was laying on the ground naked. They decided to proceed inside of the home once they saw the child hitting her head against the wall.

Once inside, authorities got the child out of the feces covered room and also found a second child.

Police spoke to the neighbors, who called in the prowler call, and found that they were menially unstable. They claimed people were hiding in the trees.

The mother was found at a local bar and told police that she left the neighbors in charge of the kids.

Cassandra Lima, 32, was charged with abandoning/endangering a child. She is currently in the Taylor County Jail and her bond is set at $25,000.
