Heavy Police Presence Surrounds Fiddlestring's After Gunfire Reported

SAN ANGELO, TX — Just before midnight, multiple police units rushed to Arden Road around Fiddlestring’s Sports Bar responding to witness’s reports hearing gunfire in the area. At the time of the call, a Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission Agent who was in the area confirmed over the radio hearing what could have been gunfire in the 3300 block of Arden Road.

Police said they found numerous casings. Police were seen inspecting the Fiddlestring’s parking lot and the cars — about a dozen were parked in the lot there — presumably for bullet casings and damage to vehicles. Police also were seen looking for casings near the H&R Block in the shopping center across the street and at the Arden Road Animal Clinic also across the street.

Police also seemed interested in the apartments next door to Fiddlestring’s. The Sonterra West Apartments are located there.

Watch a pan of the scene Wednesday night:

Police at the scene said “numerous” casings were found.

Earlier in the evening, two additional gunfire reports were made nearby on Glenna St. and on Nottingham Trail, a residential street eight blocks away. Radio calls made at the time, starting at around 10 p.m. Wednesday night, did not indicate police found any evidence of gunshots fired.

Seven or eight police units were in the area into the early morning hours and it appeared TABC and San Angelo police were staging a small force in the Walgreen’s parking lot nearby on Sherwood Way.

Police said no injuries were reported as of 12:20 a.m. as they continued their investigation and made their presence known in the area.

Fiddlestring’s remained open during the incident.
