Officers Shoot Suspect After Wild Police Chase Ends in Colorado City

COLORADO CITY, TX – A reported stolen Lincoln MKZ in Sweetwater lead to a two-county police chase ending in Colorado City, with police shooting the suspect after he threatened officers.

According to a report in KTXS, police gave chase to the subject and tried to deploy spike strips as they traveled westbound on I-20 but failed in their first attempt. The chase continued into Mitchell County where the spike strips were successful.

The spikes shredded the left front tire and forced the suspect to exit at Hwy 208. As the suspect attempted to navigate the vehicle while driving on one rim, he lost control and slammed into a mailbox outside a Chevron/Subway establishment.

As he exited the vehicle the suspect brandished a gun and threatened to shoot troopers at the scene. A trooper shot the suspect in the lower body and he was then “transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. His condition is unknown."
