Over $300K of Methamphetamine Seized at Border

EAGLE PASS, TX – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station seized over 10 pounds of methamphetamine at the U.S. Highway 57 immigration checkpoint, Aug. 29.

Eagle Pass South Border Patrol agents assigned to the immigration checkpoint on Highway 57, arrested a 20-year-old Mexican national and a 21-year-old United States citizen for attempting to smuggle over 10 pounds of methamphetamine inside a Chevrolet Aveo. The narcotics, with an estimated value of over $348,000, were discovered inside a hidden compartment within the vehicle. Both men and the narcotics were turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.

“Smuggling organizations will attempt to blend in with the traveling public to smuggle illegal contraband into the United States,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz. “Thanks to our agents’ vigilance, these dangerous drugs will not be entering our communities.”
