Dangerous Felon Sentenced to 70 Years for Branding a Woman

WEATHERFORD, TX -- A habitual criminal with a history of violence was sentenced to 70 years in prison for branding a woman.

According to Parker County court records, David Shawn Minze, 39, was convicted of felony assault for branding his girlfriend with a belt buckle.

Minze allegedly used a cigarette lighter to heat up a western style belt buckle that had a large 'S' on in and branding the woman leaving a scar.

Minze has numerous felony convictions including a previous assault on the same woman.

The victim testified Minze also covered her face with a pillow choking her.

Minze's attorney says they will appeal the conviction and 70 year prison sentence.
