EAGLE PASS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station seized 121 pounds of methamphetamine at the U.S. Highway 57 immigration checkpoint on July 27.
“Smuggling organizations continue to use more creative methods of concealment,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz. “I am proud of our agents’ ability to counteract these deep concealment trends and locate dangerous narcotics before they enter our communities.”
Eagle Pass South Border Patrol agents, assigned to the immigration checkpoint on Highway 57, inspected a Dodge Durango and discovered 121 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within the gas tank of the vehicle. The driver, a 22-year-old Houston man, was arrested for attempting to smuggle narcotics further into the United States. Also arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt were a 23-year-old Houston man and a 24-year-old man from Mexico.
