Pedestrian Struck and Killed While Walking on Service Road

 

WESTBROOK, TX -- A pedestrian was hit and killed while walking on the service road on I-20 yesterday. 

According to Sgt Biddle with the Texas Department of Public Safety, on July 24 the DPS was dispatched to the north service road of I-20 just 2.5 miles West of Westbrook for the report of a motor vehicle vs pedestrian crash. 

When troopers arrived they found a man identified as 38-year-old Jason Covington of Lubbock dead at the scene. 

Following investigation the troopers determined that a 2016 Chevorlet pickup was traveling east on the I-20 north service road when the pedestrian stepped into the main lane causing the pickup to hit and kill him. 

The driver of the pickup was taken to the Mitchell County Hospital in Colorado City and was treated and released. 

This crash in still under investigation.
