INDICTMENT: Deputies Seize One Pound of Pot

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A man was indicted this month after deputies pull over a man for speeding and find one pound of marijuana.

On May 5, a Sheriff's Deputy with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office observed a vehicle speeding down Highway 277 S towards Christoval. The deputy clocked his speed at 75 mph in a 65 mph zone.

The driver in the vehicle identified himself as Guadalupe Torres of Tomball, TX near Houston. When the deputy was talking with Torres she noticed a very strong smell of marijuana coming out of the vehicle.

The deputy searched the vehicle and found a package sealed with a wrapping to try and hide the smell of the pot. According to the affidavit, the package weighed in at 16.04 oz.

He is currently not in the Tom Green County Jail and has until the end of the month to report for the indictment. He is facing one count of possession of marijuana more than four ounces but less than five pounds.
