ABILENE, TX -- Thirteen people were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday for multiple child sex crimes.
On June 25 and June 26, the Texas Department of Public Safety criminal investigation unit and the Abilene Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit conducted an undercover sting that found 13 people who had been attempting to contact a detective disguised as a child on social media for sexual reasons.
According to KTXS, after arresting the thirteen for online solicitation of a minor they found that most of them had prior incidents of sexual assault of a child.
The names of the suspects and charges are as follows:
- Adrian Johannes Vandervlist, 28, of Abilene
- Online solicitation of a minor sexual contact
- Sexual performance by child under 14
- Vandervlist's bond was set at $100,000.
- Rafael Nicholas Nanez, III, 19, of Abilene
- Online solicitation of a minor sexual contact
- His bond was set at $80,000.
- Raymond Anthony Cornman, 30, of Abilene
- Prostitution solicit person under 18
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Cornman's bond was set at $100,000.
- Joshua Neil Walker, 30, of Sweetwater
- Online solicitation of a minor sexual contact
- His bond was set at $80,000.
- Elias Abilgail Leyva, 27, of Abilene
- Online Solicitation of a minor sexual conduct
- His bond was set at $75,000.
- Michael Thomas Walton, 18, of Abilene
- Online Solicitation of a minor sexual contact
- Walton's bond was set at $75,000.
- Anthony Ray Moreno, 28, of ABilene
- Online Solicitation of a minor under 14
- Moreno's bond was set at $75,000.
- Mark Earl Slattery, 55, of Garland
- Online solicitation of a minor sexual conduct
- Slattery was released on a $75,000 bond.
- Joseph Windfield Castleman III, 35, of Abilene
- Online solicitation of a minor sexual conduct
- Castleman's bond was set at $75,000.
- Bryan James Collins, 39, of Winters
- Online solicitation of a minor
- His bond was set at $100,000
- Joseph Edward Thomas Gulick, 46, of Abilene
- Online solicitation of a minor under 14
- Sexual performance by child under 14
- His bond was set at $150,000.
- Jeffrey Scott Akard, 57, of Abilene
- Online Solicitation of a minor sexual conduct
- His bond was set at $75,000.
- Carlito Santiago Santos, 46, of Abilene
- Online solicitation of a minor
Texas Highway Patrol, Tye Police Department, Merkel Police Department, Dias Office of Special Operations, and the US Marshalls' assisted in this sting.
