Felony Conviction Handed Down in Brown County Murder Plot

BROWNWOOD, TX -- A Brown County teen will now spend the next six years behind bars after he allegedly tried to get his girlfriend to murder her parents.

Sebastian Dewayne Lattig pled guilty to a felony charge of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor to Commit Murder and was sentenced to six years in prison on Thursday, a press release from District Attorney Michael Murray said. The 35th District Court of Brown County hosted the proceedings and Judge Steven Ellis presided over the case.

First Assistant District Attorney Chris Brown presented evidence in the case that showed Lattig solicited his 16-year-old girlfriend to assist in the plotted murder of her parents.

The girlfriend was supposed to gain access to her parents' laptop to create suicide notes for her parents. The plan was discovered her parents after she snuck out of her grandmother's house, the parents testified in court. In an attempt to find their daughter, the parents looked over communication she had with Lattig and stumbled across the plot.

The communication between their daughter and Lattig detailed plans to kill her parents and the evidence was turned over to the Bangs Police Officer Greg Parrot, who now works as a deputy for the Brown County Sheriff's Office.

Bangs Police and Brown County Sheriff's Office located the girl shortly after she was found to be missing. Lattig planned to kill her parents shortly after she returned from being gone. He was going to inject antifreeze into their necks while they slept. His girlfriend was to remove the bullets from her father's gun to keep them from defending themselves in addition to creating suicide notes.

Parrot testified that he had a previous run-in with Lattig. A month prior, Lattig was issued a criminal trespassing warning at his girlfriend's house per a request from her parents.
